Confirmation Ministry

Confirmation is a Christian rite at which a baptized Christian reaffirms his or her baptismal vows. Confirmation also confers communicant membership in the Lutheran Church upon the recipient. During the rite of Confirmation, individuals confess their faith in the Triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and state their agreement with the Bible and with the teachings of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Confirmation instruction, therefore, uses the Bible, Luther's Small Catechism, and the Lutheran Service Book in order to:

  • gain an increased knowledge of the Bible;
  • become prepared to receive the Lord's Supper;
  • be encouraged to live a Christ-centered life;
  • learn how to face the temptations and pressures of life; and
  • grow in his or her faith in Jesus Christ crucified for us.
