Welcome to Hope Lutheran Church

History:  With thanks and praise to God, Hope Lutheran Church of De Pere is realizing the hopes of its founders over fifty years ago.  When the original limestone church was built, the back wall was made of cement block.  The founders' strategy was that the church building would be expanded to accommodate a growing congregation.

The exterior of the new facility has been designed to blend in asthetically with the original church, connecting it with the educational center.  The new sanctuary will provide seating for about twice as many worshipers as well as provide complete handicap accessibility.

The present sanctuary has become our fellowship hall.  The original basement is now our youth area, making for flexibility and more available space in the educational wing.

The congregation is particularly grateful to members Jeff Stafford and Bill Jensen who headed the project, to architect David Van Lanen, Aswaubenon, who crafted the plan, and to Jeff Swanson, president of OM Construction, Green Bay, who brought it to life.

The congregation thanks God for His goodness and pledges to renew its commitment to his mission in this community.

Organizational Opportunities

Sunday School:  Bible classes are offered every Sunday between services for children from 3 years old through 8th grade.  In addition, we often share our singing talent in church services and feature a Christmas service each year.  Family events-including a Fall hay ride, a Christian concert, and bowling- are often organized for our Hope families.  In addition, there are service and mission projects such as Operation Christmas Child and Hearts for Jesus.

Youth Ministry: This program helps our youth to build a relationship with Jesus Christ.  It includes regular Bible study classes every Sunday from 9:15-10:15AM, service projects such as Operation Christmas Child, and an annual Silent Auction/Chili Dinner.

Adult Bible Studies: The Sunday morning group meets from 9:15-10:15AM to discuss topics of interest.  The LifeLight group meets at 6:30PM at the parsonage for a more in-depth study.  Jan Stoll leads this group in two nine-week studies per year.

Vacation Bible School: Children 3 years of age through 6th grade are invited to join us for a week of fun and learning of Jesus' love during our one-week Summer Vacation Bible School.  Everyone is invited-More info coming soon!

Hope Lutheran Choir: Choir practices on Wednesdays at 6:00PM and members share their talents to beautify our church services.  New members are always welcome.

Altar Guild: The group helps to serve the Lord by preparing the chancel for services and the Lord's table for Holy Communion.

Evangelism and Publicity: This committee helps to promote church functions and reach out to our community.

Senior Hopefuls: Members of Hope who are 55 years of age and older can join this group which meets at noon on the second Wednesday of the month for food, fun, and fellowship.  All seniors are invited to attend.

Ladies Guild: This group meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00PM.  It is a group of women who seek to serve the Lord and Hope in various ways including financial support of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, the Salvation Army, Camp Metz, and various church activities.  They service the church with luncheons and funeral dinners, and they enjoy Christian ladies' fellowship.

Men's Club: All men of Hope are invited to gather for breakfast and Bible study in the Fellowship Hall at 8:30AM on the second Saturday of each month.  Additional events include sponsoring the church picnic, and annual Christmas party, and golf outings, and providing treat bags for the children's Christmas service.

De Pere Christian Outreach: Hope is one of eight churches which sponsor the Outreach for the purpose of helping needy families in the De Pere area.
